Manessier extends the experience of the Abbey of Solesmes — light filtered through stained glass, Gregorian chant suspended in the air — into an abstraction that vibrates from within. Made of coloured rhythms and juxtaposed transparencies, the composition does not represent: it evokes and uplifts, like lauds, the first prayers of the day. The work becomes a space of visual contemplation where silence and light converse without words.
